“Are We Ready? The Fight Against Avian Flu, Bioterrorism, and Other Public Health Threats”

Recent news headlines have warned of a potential killer bird flu pandemic, noted the discovery of a new, super-virulent strain of HIV, and highlighted vulnerabilities to bioterrorism attacks. How prepared are we for these and other public health threats? Dr. Julie Gerberding, who was named director of the CDC in 2002 and is a graduate of UC Berkeley, will discuss these issues and more. The half-hour talk will be followed by a Q&A session.
